My name is Vince Slater and I’m the Chef and Director of Slater’s Catering & Event Ltd

With over 40 years experience as a Chef, Hospitality Manager and business owner you are in safe hands.

My career began at 15 learning my craft to become a chef at one of Lancashire’s best Hotels, Barton Grange in Barton near Preston.

From a young age, my aim was to run my own business and I achieved this at the age of 24 starting an outside catering business in 1989 from a small site on Preston docks.

As a lot of our outside catering was in the evenings we were always on the look out for a bolt on business that we could operate during the day and an opportunity came to run a small 30 seat coffee shop which we named The Birdcage Coffee shop within Auldene Garden Centre in Croston, just as restaurants and coffee shops within garden centre’s were taking off and grew within 5 years to 135 seater restaurant and coffee shop and with our growth we added another site Slater’s Coffee shop in Southport.

After gaining experience in various hospitality settings within the education and private sector, the opportunity to run my own business arose in 2006 and I became the caterer at Leyland Golf Club and sometime later my children came into the business where we stayed until Covid.

After 4 years of exploring other aspects of the catering industries and working across the UK, it was time to return home and do what I do best!
